Downloading & Installing Avast Anti-Virus on Windows Vista

The installation of Avast Antivirus is straightforward, but just in case you need hand we have prepared this tutorial. The first step is to download the software from the Avast download page. Download the "English" file (or the appropriate language) and save the file to the desktop. Once the file has finished downloaded, double click on it to start the installation process. You should see a series of windows like the ones shown below:

Click on "Next >" to continue

Scroll down to read make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements. When you are done, click on "Next >" to move to continue

Click on the circle next to "I agree", then click on "Next >" to continue

Click on "Next >" to select the default installation directory

This window allows you to customize the installation type. Experianced users may wish to configure various options here. It's best to leave the default options selected and click on "Next >" to continue

This window shows a brief summary of your installation options. Click on "Next >" to start the installation

There will be a short pause as files are copied. 

When the installation process is complete, you will be asked if you want to run a virus scan the next time your computer reboots. We recommend selecting "Yes".

Avast Antivirus is now installed. Click "Finish" and reboot your computer. The Boot-Time virus scan will take 30 minutes to (2) hours, depending on the size of your hard drive(s). Be patient, have a snack...Avast is now protecting your Computer.
