Personal Computer Security Is Important, here's why..

Internet based fraud is possibly the single fastest growing online enterprise online. Some security professionals estimate that 1 in 3 computers will be infected with some nature of malware that is designed to steal personal information and hyjack the computer in order to exploit other computers on the internet.

In order for people to stay safe online and protect themselves from thieves you have to take proactive steps to protecting your computer from viruses, trojans and other types of malware. As a technician I hear countless people say something along the lines of; "I have nothing to steal", or "I have nothing to hide, so why should I worry if someone is getting into my computer?

People today are desensitized im many aspects of our lives. We take little notice to the things we can not see, or that are not immediately tangible and discount their importance, or their impact, on your lives. The threat of viruses and malware is very real, and more is at risk than some company knowing what websites you visit.

Today's malware (in particularly Trojans, Worms and Spyware) are rarely developed by companies, and the individuals who do create these programs care little about what websites you visit, or how you shop online. These Cyber Crooks are after your personal information, from your bank account information, website logon details, stored password, financial databases created by Quickbooks, Microsoft Money, and others. If your computer truly has nothing on it for scammers to steal, then they will use your computers resources to hack into other peoples computers, SPAM millions of Inboxes a day, or even use your computers as a relay to control massive networks of infected machines (BotNets). Often victims computers are traded, sold and used by the underground hackers who are responcible for much of the credit card fraud that occurs online.
