Recovery of data on 1'8 inch mobile device hard drives

PDF Print E-mail

We can recover lost, deleted, formatted, or otherwise destroyed data from the small 1'8 inch hard drives that are common in NetBooks, iPods, and other mobile computing devices. Though small, these small hard disk drives contain micro-sized components and are just as susceptible to harmful conditions as any other type of storage media. Shock damage, accidental file deletion or format, damage due to spills or moisture, and countless other conditions can cause data loss on these mobile devices. If you are facing data loss of any nature we may be able to help.

Before you do anything the best advice we can give you to ensure data recovery is to "Stop". Follow the basic steps to ensure no more damage or corruption occurs.

Before you do anything else take these precautionary steps to ensure your data is safe.

  • You should STOP using the computer or device immediately.
    - If you are now using the computer that is affected, print this page and shut down the PC.
  • Unplug the computer or device from the power outlet.
  • Remove the battery from the device.
  • Make sure everyone in your household knows not to turn on or use the computer or device.
  • On a notepad write down what files or documents you need recovered.
  • If possible note the locations, folder names and file names of important data.

Here are a few common mistakes people make when they are experiencing data loss. Please ensure NOT to do the following:

  • Do NOT keep trying to access the hard drive or storage media.
  • Do NOTĀ open the device or remove the hard drive.
  • Do NOT run disk utilities such as check disk .
  • DO NOT follow ill-advice posted on the Internet to attempt recovery.
  • DO NOT panic and try "anything".
  • DO NOT download generic recovery utilities.

Contact No Geeks PC as soon as possible after the data loss or damage occurs to the affected device. Under ideal circumstances (these tips are heeded and followed) we have a very good chance at total data recovery.

Customer Feedback

Thank you for getting back my pictures and stuff. Everyone else gave me a quote that was so high I did not think we could afford the recovery on my laptop. Everything is backup up now and will be in the future thanks to you. Sarah Collins - Oklahoma City, Ok.
